At Freedom in Motion, we always look for ways to improve the experience for our students and their families. Our head coach, Joey Adrian, has been working hard to refine our curriculum and class structure to ensure every athlete has the best possible learning environment.
We’re excited to share some key improvements already being rolled out in our classes! Please continue reading below to see exactly what we are talking about!

A More Structured Approach to Learning
We are introducing a Theme of the Week to create a clearer and more consistent learning path. This means that every week, all classes will focus on specific parkour skills related to a central theme. This will allow students to build on their knowledge progressively and deepen their understanding of key movements.
Each class will now feature:
Skills of the Week – A maximum of two key parkour skills per class to allow deeper learning.
Five Challenges – Ranging from easy to hard to ensure all students have an appropriate level of challenge.
Two Themed Courses – Each class will include two obstacle courses that incorporate the skills and challenges of the week, helping students apply their new techniques in a fun and structured way.
Additionally, Joey will share these plans with all our coaches weekly, ensuring that every class across the gym meets our high-quality coaching standards.
Mandatory Class Elements for a Well-Rounded Experience
To make sure every class is both fun and effective, all parkour classes include these key elements:
Warm-up – Prepares the body and mind for movement, and learning.
Conditioning – Strengthens muscles to support skill development.
Skill Section – Focused teaching time for new skills.
Course Practice – Applying skills in a real-world parkour setting using exciting parkour obstacle courses.
Cooldown – Recovery and injury prevention.
Games – Optional but strongly encouraged, now always at the end of class for maximum engagement.
Improving Progress Tracking and Leveling Up
One of the most exciting long-term projects we are working on is refining our skill progression system. To ensure that students truly master their skills before advancing, we are implementing a more structured checkpoint system:
Learned – The student understands the skill and can perform it in a controlled setting.
Proficient – The skill is solid and can be used in a variety of situations.
Mastered – The student demonstrates the skill at a high level, earning special recognition and rewards!
These changes are coming later in 2025
Coaches will also be stricter with skill evaluations, ensuring that progress is meaningful and setting a high standard for all students. While this may slow down leveling up in the short term, it will ultimately lead to more well-rounded and confident athletes.
Refining the Experience for Younger Athletes
We are making a few key changes to help our younger students stay engaged in learning:
Foam Pit Free Time Reduced for Little Explorers – The foam pit/airbag will now only be used as part of structured activities. This change will help our youngest athletes focus on skill-building rather than unstructured play.
Noodle Tag Removed from Open Gym – While fun, this game has proven to be too chaotic and distracting. Instead, games will focus more on skill-building and creative exploration.

Looking Ahead
These changes are just the beginning of our ongoing effort to make Freedom in Motion the best training environment possible. While some updates, like the progression system, will take time to fully implement, our priority is to build a strong foundation of structured, high-quality coaching.
We’re so excited to see how these improvements help our athletes grow. If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to reach out to our coaching team. Thank you for being part of the Freedom in Motion community!
